OpenSubdiv in Blender 2.76

A quick introduction to Blender’s new subdivision surface option called OpenSubdiv. It was developed by Pixar, and greatly increases the frames per second at which we can view our subdivided models.

Another thing to note is that the GPU compute only works with NVIDIA cards, and it does not currently calculate UV’s in the viewport.
